AI for insurance agents: first enquiries, renewals and top-ups, run your way
Insurance rarely closes on the first conversation. TOPPP turns your proven insurance playbook into an AI sales team on call 24/7: enquiries answered on the spot, follow-ups kept on cadence, renewals flagged on time — underwriting and large cases go back to a human.
Insurance loses customers in six places
No single stage is broken. Every stage leaks a little, and the later the stage the more the leak costs — you have already paid to acquire that customer.
01First contact
Comes in at midnight, answered at noon
Enquiries peak after hours. By the time anyone replies, the customer has asked two other firms.
02Fact-find
Ask less, guess more
Budget, family situation, cover already held. Miss those and the proposal gets one glance.
03Closing
Given up on by the third touch
Insurance decisions take time. Most people write a customer off after the second or third try.
04Application
The same question, a hundred times
Waiting periods, exclusions, disclosure. Every customer asks; the answer waits on whoever is free.
05Renewals
Reminders live in someone’s head
Premium dates and grace periods live in a spreadsheet. One busy week and they slip.
06Top-ups & referrals
Person leaves, customer goes quiet
The next policy usually depends on whether the person who sold the last one is still there.
What the four stages look like in insurance
The stages do not change. In insurance each becomes something specific.
Codify the playbook
Write down how your best closer runs a meeting How you ask about a family, how you turn a budget into sum insured and term, when to put two versions side by side — that judgement becomes company property instead of living in one head. Custom to you: your discovery order and your proposal logic — not a script library
Scale the execution
Nobody waits until morning First enquiries, follow-ups, renewals and policy questions each have a role and a limit, around the clock. No scramble at peak, no payroll in the lull. Custom to you: which roles exist, and who owns which stage
Compound the learning
Say it wrong once, never again Before go-live the review workbench runs the checks: what must be said gets said, what must never be promised cannot appear. Fix a problem once, the whole team updates. Custom to you: your review criteria, your failure cases
Humans where they matter
Underwriting and large cases stay human A conversation that crosses that line goes back to a human in one click, backstage — to the customer it is the same person. Custom to you: what sum insured, which customers — your line
One insurance team: four roles and a person
This is not one do-everything bot. Roles and limits follow your business — below is the typical insurance split.

Where it stops is configured, not hoped for
What matters is not how well the AI answers, but that it stops at the line — and four things hold that line.
Draw the line first
- Stages have entry conditions; unmet, nothing advances — a conversation that crosses the line never reaches the closing stage.
- No criteria, no launch:Review runs before launch: what must be said gets said, what must never appear cannot. A case with no criteria does not pass at all.
Review every version
- Config saves as a new version, passes review, then goes live; active conversations switch at once.
- Takeover by customer:The AI-managed switch sits on each customer, not the whole system. Takeover happens backstage — to the customer, it still feels like one advisor.
Three things we do not hand to AI
In insurance a wrong sentence costs more than a bad review. Limits come first, drawn more clearly than capabilities.

No underwriting calls
No underwriting calls
- Whether cover is granted, loaded or excluded is an underwriting decision. The AI states the disclosure requirement, then brings in a person.
- No claims verdicts:Whether it pays depends on the policy and the evidence. The AI explains process and paperwork; the verdict is a person’s.

No promises it can’t keep
No promises it can’t keep
- Returns, “guaranteed payout”, “approval guaranteed” — those sentences are ruled out in review before launch, so they never reach a customer.
If what you want is a bot that answers the common questions and stops there, cheaper options exist. This is only worth it if you already have a playbook that works, and one worth replicating.
Four questions insurance teams ask
We place with several carriers and the wordings differ — can AI keep up?
TOPPP does not learn “insurance”, it learns your method. Your discovery order, proposal logic and judgement calls become how the AI works; the product wordings live in your own knowledge base, bound to the role that needs it. The Policy Q&A Agent answers inside that boundary — outside it, the conversation goes to a person, not to a guess.
What if the AI gets disclosure, underwriting or claims wrong?
Those three are where TOPPP draws the line. The AI explains what has to be disclosed and what a claim needs; whether cover is granted, loaded, or paid is never its call. The conversation goes back to a human, backstage and invisible to the customer. Before go-live, those limits are checked case by case on the review workbench.
If AI sends the renewal reminders, will customers feel spammed?
The Renewal Agent runs the cadence and wording you set: when to remind, how many times, how to explain a grace period. TOPPP can connect with your CRM. It keeps full context on that customer, so it does not reintroduce itself the way a broadcast does — it picks up where the last conversation left off. A person can take over at any moment.
Will our customer conversations be used to train models?
No. TOPPP calls general-purpose large language model APIs; we do not train models ourselves, and TOPPP does not use your conversations to train its own models.
Bring your playbook — see it run an insurance desk
A demo takes about 30 minutes and covers three things:
- 01Map your first-contact and follow-up flow, and find which parts AI should take
- 02Play a customer yourself and chat; on the right, watch the agents hand off and when a human steps in
- 03Run both ledgers on your own policy and headcount numbers, against first-contact response time, fact-find completion, close rate and renewal-reminder reach
